Registering as a New Patient

If you’ve just moved to the area, you can join our practice quickly and easily by completing our online registration form.

While we encourage online registration for convenience, you’re also welcome to visit the surgery in person. We’ll provide you with a New Patient Information Pack, which includes:
– A welcome letter from our Patient Services Manager
– A Patient Information booklet
– A new patient questionnaire
– A registration form (one form is needed for each individual)

What Happens Next?
Once you’ve registered, we’ll request your medical records from your previous GP. This process can take up to 8 weeks, so we ask all new patients to book a 20-minute health check with our practice nurse. This helps us get up-to-date health information while we wait for your full records.

If You’re on Regular Medication
If you take regular medication, we’ll add your repeat prescriptions to your records—if we have the details. You may also need to book an appointment with a GP to review your medication.

Don’t Forget to Update Your Details
If you’re receiving care elsewhere (such as at a hospital), please update them with your new address and the name and address of our practice, so we receive any important medical correspondence.

Visiting the Area and Need to See a GP?

If you’re feeling unwell while away from home, or if you’re not currently registered with a GP but need medical attention, you can receive emergency treatment from a local GP practice for up to 14 days.
If you need care for longer than 14 days, you’ll need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

What is a Temporary Patient?
You can register as a temporary patient for up to 3 months. This means you can receive care from the local practice without changing your registration with your usual GP.
After 3 months, you’ll need to either re-register as a temporary patient or consider registering permanently.

How to Register
To register as a temporary patient, simply contact the local GP practice you’d like to visit. Most practices are happy to help, but please note they are not required to accept every temporary patient request. However, they must provide emergency treatment if needed.
📌 Please note: You can’t register as a temporary patient at a practice that’s located in the same area where you’re already registered.
