Request Medication Online
The easiest way to request medications is online. There are two options available to do this:
SystmOnline
NHS APP Account
It can be confusing to know which option to use. We have outlined the benefits and limitations of each option below so you can decide which works best for you. Select one of the options below for more information.
Request Repeat Prescription – Paper Slip
If you have paper prescriptions, the GREEN slip is the actual prescription which you give to the pharmacist to obtain your medication. The WHITE side shows the list of drugs that you can order as repeat issues. We also call this the repeat re-order form. Please keep this as you need it to order more medication. To order more medication:
Please mark only those items that you need by ticking each item on the WHITE SLIP within 7 days of running out. Do not tick items that you do not need.
Drop off your completed repeat medication slip at reception or in the Pharmacy in the red or white box.
Medications Recommended From Hospital
If you have seen a hospital specialist and they have recommended a course of treatment, this will not be actioned until your doctor has received a letter from the hospital specialist.
If the hospital specialist deems that you need to start a medication immediately, the specialist will provide you with a prescription at your outpatient appointment.
Over The Counter Medications
For minor illnesses or advice, pharmacists are available during opening hours. They can assist with medication available without a prescription, saving you the need to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse.
Many self-limiting conditions can be treated by self-care. More information can be found in this Self-Care Policy

Is it something the hospital has prescribed or asked us to prescribe from a letter?
Please note we cannot prescribe medication suggested by the hospital until we get a written letter stating the exact medication, dosage and frequency.
– It can take the hospital 2-3 weeks following on from your hospital appointment for the clinic letter to be sent to us (a timeframe often not appreciated by the hospital doctors)
– If you need an urgent medication following from a hospital review, it is hospital policy that to avoid delay they should prescribe an initial 2 week supply of the medication.
– If we do not have the hospital letter and it is an urgent prescription we may insist that the hospital team is contacted to provide the initial medication prescription
